Learning To Speak

I'm bursting with emotions,
frustrations, at this point and work
Feelings trapped in unshaped ideas
Ideas trapped in unarticulated words
My body is screaming
And silence is all it's heard

I feel despair in my paralysis
Tiredness in wasted attempts
Sentences trampled by the rush of thoughts
Thoughts that no one can understand
My body is caving
And gloom is all it's seen

Watching me grow from the distance
You catch something I can't from inside
The painful sprouting of a possible artist
I see the hope in your trustful eyes
My body is suddenly filled with worries
Disappointment is all I fear

But you whisper no answer,
brighter, a way
You give me confidence to better assay
Fear aside, full of imperfections,
my first words are finally conveyed

My body is relieved,
I can listen to myself, believe
You're the one I look up to
You're the one that helped me grow
I'll make you proud of me,
Show you how far I can go
